SCHOOLS

1.Realschule Meinersen

The school’s name is Realschule Meinersen. It’s a secondary modern school with pupils from the age of 10 – 16. About 500 pupils are attending the school. The area is rural, we are approx. 200 km away from Berlin and 60 km away from Hanover. We are a partly full time school, the lessons are from Monday – Friday 7:30 – 15:20. We are about 40 teachers from 25 – 60 years, most of our teachers are about 30 – 35 years old. The school is situated within a large school center with Hauptschule and grammar school. Since the last few years we experience a growing number of pupils with social and emotional problems. Even in our rural area family structures are breaking off and more and more pupils grow up in an atmosphere of insecureness. Problems as disruptive behaviour, vandalism and
bullying are only some of the results of modern society. The school’s reaction has been so far in establishing a behavioral codex for pupils including a range of reactions; a social worker and a consulting teacher; social and behavioral trainings. As we are on our way towards digitilisation (governmental support) we are striving to become more aware of digital skills but also we are also facing the upcoming challenges considering the influence of social media. Above that we do researching, experimenting and implementing anticyber bullying policies. Two teachers will be responsible for this project: one teacher with a lot of experience in teaching challenging pupils and a teacher experienced in new skills concerning dealing with challenging behavior.
